How to get the best results from your bonnet

(If you haven't yet, check out the post about what to expect in the first 7 days of owning your bonnet.)

Following on that post, in order to get the maximum benefits from your bonnets:

1. Ensure your bonnet fits well

  • Not too tight on the edges - too much tension can cause thinning edges.
  • Doesn’t slide off easily.
  • Fully covers your hair

Check out our variety of bonnet styles. If you purchase a bonnet and it doesn't suit, we offer refunds.

2. Keep your night routine simple

  • Use a lightweight moisturizer (optional)
  • Avoid heavy oils that can weigh hair down
  • Detangle gently
  • Put hair in loose braids or a pineapple if needed

I currently have short hair which is dyed black and I use a leave in conditioner to combat dryness sometimes caused by hair dyes.

3. Pair Your Bonnet With Soft Styling

  • Avoid pulling edges tightly
  • Use satin scrunchies instead of elastic
  • Keep manipulation low during the week

4. Wash Your Bonnet Regularly

If worn nightly:

  • Silk: gentle wash every 1–2 weeks
  • Satin: weekly or more frequently depending on product use

With these easy care tips, your bonnet, scalp and hair will thank you.
